Who can attend this event?
Frosty Keg Float is public event. All you need to do is notify us that you will be attending by using the Float Trip Registration form and then show up on the day of the event. Think of this like any other event or concert except this is much cooler.
Do you have 10 friends but you're not sure if you can invite them? Well stop questioning and get on the horn and tell them they're going to the biggest float trip in Oklahoma. Again, this is a public event. Buy a Ticket -> Show Up -> Have Fun!
I've never floated before, is it hard?
Floating the Illinois River is a fun and relaxing way to spend the day on the water. If the water level is right you might get away with never lifting a paddle and just letting the river current push you down stream. The rafts you are floating in a very stable and difficult to overturn. They are slow moving and usually just bump off of any obstacles in the water.
When the bus drops you off at the river to board your raft please remember that each person must have a life vest and typically you should have 3-4 oars in the boat with you. All rafts on Frosty Keg Float must have at least 6 people in them unless you are in a designated 9 person raft. This is very important so that everybody will be able to float the river, if you leave with a half loaded raft (less than 6) people will be left behind and you will be in trouble.
What should I take with me during the float trip?
Some veterans may agree or disagree with some of our suggestions but they have worked for us and we think they'll work for you.
Drinks
You should bring an ice chest with your choice of beverage which should also include water or juices. This can be a long trip 4+ hours on the river a bottle of water can be a lifesaver after you've been in the sun for that long.
Food / Snacks
Grab or make yourself some snacks to take with you. Sandwiches in a baggy, lunchables, chips in plastic cans, granola bars, fruit in tupperware. These are just some ideas anything you can think of that you can keep dry and that would taste good on a hot summer day. Again, a little snack in that cooler could be a lifesaver at the 3 mile mark and your stomach is growling.
Cigarettes / Lighters
If you smoke we suggest you throw some cigarettes in an empty 20oz bottle with the lid for the lighters we recommend bringing a couple of them each of them in their own baggy. Do we need to tell you that fire and water don't mix?
Sunscreen
Apply early and often! You're usually burned way before you notice it... sunburns suck.
These are just a few of the staples we recommend for a good time on the river. Sure there are other things you can bring but we'll let you use your imagination for those.
Can I Buy Beer at FKF?
NO, this event is a BYOB (Bring Your Own Beverage) event! There is a store pretty close to the campsite but we highly recommend you buy your beer / soda / water before you arrive at the river. We will have food vendors on site if you'd prefer to not hassle with bringing a grill and food.
I bought a ticket. Will there be some kind of printable ticket i will get in my e-mail, or is my name on a list, so when i go to FKF They will verified my name on a list or something?
Please print your receipt from us and PayPal as your ticket and bring that with you to the ticket booth to get your wristband.
