Some veterans may agree or disagree with some of our suggestions but they have worked for us and we think they'll work for you. Drinks You should bring an ice chest with your choice of beverage which should also include water or juices. This can be a long trip 4+ hours on the river a bottle of water can be a lifesaver after you've been in the sun for that long. Food / Snacks Grab or make yourself some snacks to take with you. Sandwiches in a baggy, lunchables, chips in plastic cans, granola bars, fruit in tupperware. These are just some ideas anything you can think of that you can keep dry and that would taste good on a hot summer day. Again, a little snack in that cooler could be a lifesaver at the 3 mile mark and your stomach is growling. Cigarettes / Lighters If you smoke we suggest you throw some cigarettes in an empty 20oz bottle with the lid for the lighters we recommend bringing a couple of them each of them in their own baggy. Do we need to tell you that fire and water don't mix? Sunscreen Apply early and often! You're usually burned way before you notice it... sunburns suck. These are just a few of the staples we recommend for a good time on the river. Sure there are other things you can bring but we'll let you use your imagination for those.
